Long Time Smoker
“We find L.T.S. akin to a thrift store teddy bear: we don’t want to touch him, but he’s so dang cute.”
Shot in hand held, Youtube diary style, the reclusive Long Time Smoker discovers useless, disgusting objects around his room. He’s both charming and disturbing, discussing things nobody cares for and creating “art” no one can stomach (“Shower Hair Kitty”). He’s a dynamic character, varying between child-like glee and deep melancholy. The camera is rather disorienting, yet oddly mirror’s the character’s cluttered mind. We can’t decide if it’s entertaining or repulsive, but we look away.
